Enjoying Endurance Next To Roos…
On a chilly winter morning several balloons were hovering above as the scene was set for Endurance racing around a new Gold Coast industrial area. And for those with a keener eye, there were some kangaroos grazing next to the start/finish area as well! Ash the “First Aider” joined us for a 3rd day and, thankfully, had an extremely quiet time so was able to enjoy the racing!
The Europeans, who are well used to having cobblestones included in an endurance race, went fast on the smooth surface that included “just the right amount” of hills.
Tomas Pelc from the Czech Republic took out the Men’s Senior World Title after kicking 9 laps of a circuit to total 40 km. As on each of the previous days, there were a few small children who enjoyed the limelight in their own races and Famke Gooika from the Netherlands took the Women’s Cadet crown. She enjoyed eating a chocolate koala whilst waiting for her parents Vincent and Yolanda to finish their races!
Rosanne Reijne from the Netherlands won the Women’s Senior Endurance race just ahead of her sister Maxime. Their father Mario was second in the Men’s Veteran category.
